All Day Program

Keen Learners Montessori offers an all day program from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The program starts at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., where the children can select activities from art materials and games. If the weather is mild, the children can be on the playground before 9 a.m.

From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the all-day children participate in the Montessori work period and group time. At 12:00 p.m. they have lunch. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the children have naps if they are young and require naps, or they participate in the Cultural Extended Day session.

From 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the children have art and movement materials to use in addition to a scheduled outside time from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. the children participate in tea serving, an exercise in courtesies and manners.

Half Day Program

The children arrive at 8:30 a.m. and participate in outside play time. (Weather permitting) From 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the children participate in the Montessori work period and group time.

Extended Day Program

The children have already attended the half-day program in the morning. For children who do not nap, the time from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. is very special. There is a lesson in penmanship, and a mathematics workbook is introduced, if the child is ready for it. The focus of the afternoon is botany (the study of plants), zoology (the study of animals), geography and simple history. The excitement and interest that the children exhibit in discovering the world about them make the afternoon program a joy for the children and the teachers.
